Step 1: Create a packing list

Create a packing list that includes only the items that are absolutely necessary for your trip — and stick to it.

A packing list will help you to stay focused. Most people use only about half of what they pack, so edit, edit, edit.

Step 2: Choose a carry on

Choose a carry on bag that has a
rectangular shape to maximize interior space. All carry on luggage
should measure less than 45 inches when the length, width, and height
are combined.

Step 3: Buy miniatures

Purchase miniature toiletries or
fill small bottles with shampoo, conditioner, soap, or lotion and place
them in sealable plastic bags.

Step 4: Choose multi-function clothes

Choose multi-function clothing
items that can be worn more than once. If you are traveling in a cool
climate, choose a sweater or jacket that can be worn with multiple tops
or bottoms.

If you are going to be
away for a long period, you may want to pack laundry detergent to keep
the clothing you pack to a minimum.

Step 5: Roll your clothes

Roll your clothes instead of folding. This will maximize your space and keep you from having to iron later on.

Step 6: Be a one-bag packer

Be a smart, one-bag packer. This
will set you apart from the poor souls that paid extra and still have to

In recent years deep-frying turkeys has become increasingly popular. The cooking method requires placing the turkey in three gallons or more of oil, heated by propane. The Avondale Fire Rescue Professionals warn that cooking with deep-fat turkey fryers can be very dangerous as they have a high risk of tipping over, overheating, or spilling hot oil. That could lead to fires, burns, or other injuries.

Dangers of Frying a Turkey

Here are 5 dangers associated with deep frying a turkey, according to the Avondale Fire Department.

Units can easily tip over, spilling hot cooking oil over a large area.

An overfilled cooking pot or partially frozen turkey will cause cooking oil to spill when the turkey is inserted.

A small amount of cooking oil coming into contact with the burner can cause a large fire.

Without thermostat controls, deep fryers have the potential to overheat the oil to the point of combustion.

The sides of the cooking pot, lid and pot handles can get dangerously hot, creating severe burn hazards.

Avondale Fire Rescue advises against using a turkey fryer. If you decide to do it anyway, these precautions should be followed.

If You Fry a Turkey

Fryers should always be used outdoors, on a solid level surface a safe distance from buildings and flamable materials.

Never use a fryer on a wooden deck, under a patio cover, in a garage or enclosed space.

Do not overfill the fryer.

Never leave the fryer unattended because, without thermostat controls, the oil will continue to heat until it catches fire.

Never let children or pets near the fryer when in use or after use as the oil can remain hot for hours.

Use well-insulated potholders or oven mitts and wear long sleeves and safety goggles to protect from splatter.

Make sure the turkey is completely thawed before it is placed in a fryer.

Keep all-purpose fire extinguishers nearby.

If a turkey fryer fire occurs, call 911 immediately.

Here is a video that shows some of the dangers of deep frying turkeys.

And Now we have the Super Committee trying to cut costs by at least a Trillion dollars and they are doing it behind closed doors! Why??

Doesn't America need to know what they are doing instead of hearing the mainstream media propaganda that is doled out?

With all the problems that the world economy is now facing I believe it is more important than ever for the U.S. government to be open with all the negotiations that affect all Americans.

The Time for Transparency is Now! All meetings should be shown on C-Span! We are all affected by what is going on in Washington and they continue working behind closed doors.

They need to start working for the American citizens!

They envision change, solve problems and take risks.
They
launch new ventures, see them to fruition and then start or invest in
new ones. And even when there is a bump in the road, they adapt, change
course, and dive right in again. And they don’t like to be told they
can’t do it.

They’re successful serial entrepreneurs, and they’re a rare breed.

“These
are very elite people,” said Ted Zoller, senior fellow with The Ewing
Marion Kauffman Foundation, and the director of the Kenan-Flagler
Business School’s Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“They are the top of the heap, the
entrepreneurs who are really sought after for their market insight, for
their knowledge of opportunities, for their strategic contacts, and for
their leadership abilities to organize teams and build companies,” he
said.

And their work is anything but mundane.

“They break
industry standards and look for opportunities to create new value where
it doesn’t exist, eliminate dysfunction, make things more efficient and
create products that don’t exist,” said Zoller, who has researched
serial entrepreneurs. “In a word, they are painkillers. They look for
markets that are in pain and come up with solutions.”

Next week
commemorates Global Entrepreneurship Week, with dozens of events, mostly
free, taking place across South Florida. The University of Miami, St.
Thomas University, Miami Dade College and Florida International
University will all host panel discussions, presentations, seminars or
contests to nurture developing entrepreneurial ventures.

True
serial entrepreneurs comprise a tiny subset of business people. While an
estimated 8 percent of all entrepreneurs launch a second venture, only
1.75 percent launch three or more, Zoller said.

Many times, they
grew up with a parent or a family member who was an entrepreneur. Often,
they don’t do well in conventional education, may show signs of
entrepreneurship at a young age and drop out to start a business, he
said.

Entrepreneurs may be rebels who defy authority and are
creative, tenacious and adaptable, said Jerry Haar, associate dean and
director of the Pino Global Entrepreneurship Center at Florida
International University’s College of Business Administration.

“And they tend not to have bruised egos, so they bounce back real fast,” he said.

Moreover,
they may have been “deprived of something, whether political or
economic,” Haar said. “So, you have that kind of resilience — the
ability to show others that you have what it takes.”

A serial entrepreneur creates a business, grows it, then sells it or takes it public, bringing in loads of cash.

They may stay on for a period of time, and then go off and create a new company.

To Read the Entire article click below!

Read more: http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/11/06/v-print/2489691/what-drives-serial-entrepreneurs.html#ixzz1d2Rrd3yR

Why It Is Important To Set Goals Properly. Part III

In your quest for success the
importance of setting goals properly cannot be over emphasized. The thoroughness of your method will
determine the success or failure of your actual achievement. Setting a realistic goal involves planning
and research combined with a lot of creative thinking.

To think that you can just
say that your goal is to become rich and really expect your goal to manifest
itself is only an exercise of futility!

True goal setting involves so
much more!

I’m going to tell you about a
friend named Rick. His story demonstrates
the importance of achieving success with proper goal setting along with
planning and a lot of perseverance.

I met Rick right after he
began his business as a carpentry contractor.
He told me that he planned to get rich and retire with his business and
like a lot of people starting business he was soon swamped with all the tasks
and paperwork trying make his company successful.

Long story made short; he
soon went broke and had to declare bankruptcy!
The thing is; he learned some valuable lessons going through the
process.

After his ordeal he came to
me as a client and asked for my assistance in restructuring his business and starting
over. We had several meetings and I
counseled him during his planning. As a
result he proclaimed that his experience along with my advice made him aware
that he was a business man in the business of contracting and not a
construction man in business.

We spent hours planning and structuring
his business model and thinking about the systems that would be essential to
the success of his business. After
spending countless hours doing research and taking some evening courses to help
him in areas where his education was lacking; he decided it was time to renew
his career in the construction industry.

He began with a small construction
company and implemented the systems that we discussed. The company grew both in volume and with
employees. It didn’t take long before he
was making a comfortable living and his company was doing work throughout the
state. The company was very successful!

The main objective in his
business model was to make the business functional without him but to have the
systems set up so that he was always in the loop and knew how everything was
working.

His success with the
carpentry company gave him the ability to open another company; this one was as
a roofing contractor. Again, he set up
the roofing company using the same business model and the systems that he
redesigned to accommodate the roofing industry.

Once the roofing company was
profitable and going at the pace Rick felt comfortable with; he started another
business; this time he opened a drywall company. Using his same business model and systems it too
was profitable.

Ten years later while we were
having coffee he told me that he decided to retire and do some traveling. By this time he had bought a ranch in Wyoming
and he also owned a home in Mexico. He
had five (5) separate successful businesses!
I asked what he was going to do with his businesses.

He
smiled and reminded me that part of his goal setting and business plan was his
exit strategy when he decided to retire.

Each
company was an entity in itself and he had set up a purchase plan for his
employees. He had structured financing
with several banks that would allow his key people to buy him out. This financing along with some creative
planning allowed him to walk away with more money than he would ever need.

His story is the perfect example
of proper goal setting and planning that I can think of, although, it did take
a lot of perseverance and hard work. It
does show how good planning and good systems can lead to success!!

One of the best tools that I have seen for setting goals and monitoring your progress as you achieve your goals is Goals On Track.

Here is a short video showing how the system works so sit back and enjoy the show!

		    Sample
		          ideas

The best part about this compilation
of money-making ideas is the ability for you to see opportunities from
1,000 different perspectives and get your own creative juices flowing.

Even if I were to think of 20 new money-making ideas every year, this collection
  represents
        50 years worth of ideas!

Let me show you what I'm talking about.

Once you've experienced 1,000 unique and unusual money-making
ideas... in every field of human endeavor... your brain is going to burst with
        new possibilities.

But
to start with...let's just try 10

Would you have EVER thought
                    of these, for example?

371. Real estate brokers
earn a 6% commission on every house they sell. That's $6,000
every time they sell a $100,000 house. So with all that
profit potential, the real estate business is extremely
competitive. But a similar business - with similar profit
potential - exists, yet there's absolutely ZERO competition.
Instead of brokering houses, what about brokering cars?
Most people are forced to try and sell their used cars
themselves. But if you offer to do all the work for them
for a 6% commission, many many people will take you up
on your offer. I certainly would. The owner cleans it up
and certifies that it's running okay. Then all you have
to do is the same thing a real estate broker does - advertise
it for sale and then "show" it to prospective buyers. On
                      a $10,000 car, your commission would be $600, so I don't
                      see any reason why this couldn't be a $60,000 a year part-time
                      business, at least.

372. We live in a celebrity culture. But we also live in a throw-away
culture. A man in Florida is taking advantage of these two tendencies
simultaneously. First, he created a list of all the "celebrities" in
his area. Then, he determined the garbage pick-up routes for those areas.
Early in the morning, before the garbage truck arrives, he scopes out
the "celebrity trash" for anything interesting. Occasionally he finds
some amazing things... with real collectibility. Once he found a celebrity's
entire album collection in 4 paper bags on the curb! (Apparently the
celebrity had re-purchased everything on CD.) Because of the provenance
of this collection, he was able to sell it for thousands!

373. Local professionals are always looking for ways of attracting
new clients. They also tend to be too busy to actively promote their
practice. Here's a way of taking advantage of those two facts. If you
can write, there's a tremendous market for ghostwriting articles for
these professionals. These articles are intended to be submitted to their
local newspapers. In other words, you could approach a local attorney
and offer to write him 52 weekly articles that he can submit to the local
newspaper. This will provide the attorney with excellent publicity and
it also increases his credibility as a local expert. And as long as your
rates are cheaper than traditional newspaper ads of the same size, it
makes financial sense for him. And it's not just attorneys you can sell
this service too... accountants, dentists, bankers, chiropractors, eye
doctors, dermatologists, travel agencies or anyone else who can benefit
from a weekly column in their local paper.

374. The reason why pizza is so popular in America is because
of home delivery. I know people who aren't even particularly fond of
pizza, but who order it anyway because they don't have any food in the
house and because they don't want to go out. Here's a way to take advantage
of that tendency. Offer a service that turns EVERY restaurant in your
area into a "home delivery" restaurant. By offering a flat fee of say,
$5 or $10, to home-deliver items from any restaurant, you will be absolutely
SWAMPED on the weekends. I know a guy who does this JUST for the local "Outback" restaurant,
and he gets 15-20 orders a night on Friday and Saturday. And since he
only delivers to homes with about a 5 mile radius, he doesn't waste much
time. This would also be the kind of business where you could actually
hire a couple of drivers on-the-cheap, and expand the business tremendously.

375. Almost every medium-to-large business has an "employee manual" and
99% of the content in it is completely independent of the company. In
other words, the employee manual at Company A, with just a few changes,
could work just as well as the employee manual for Company B. So here's
how to make money with this. Get ahold of as many employee manuals as
you can and come up with a "template" that covers the bulk of the material
in typical manuals. Now, approach medium-sized businesses that SHOULD
have an employee manual, but don't, and offer to create an employee manual
for them at 1/10th of the cost they could do it themselves. You've already
got the template written. Just fill in the specific information regarding
that particular company, and get paid. You should be able to make $2,000
or so per company, and the whole thing could literally be done in one
day! Your potential in this kind of business depends entirely on how
well you can market yourself, but there are at least 1,000,000 businesses
out there in need of this service!

376. Used books are not created equal, but people having yard
sales seem to think so. You can buy an entire box of old books for $1
at a yard sale, and then turn around and take some of the better items
to a used book store and get $10 or more. This might take some practice
and experience at being able to spot what used book stores want, but
any sort of how-to book or popular novel within the past few years will
do well. Books that are local in nature are GREAT sellers. You're not
going to get rich this way, but during the summer, you can hit 5 or 6
yard sales a day and earn $50 a day pretty easily.

377. There's a man where I live who makes a decent living by collecting
wildflower seeds. There is a huge national movement to return to native
plants, and almost every state has a "Native Plant Society" of one sort
or another. There are also a number of groups dedicated to landscaping
with native (as opposed to invasive) species, such as "Wild Ones". All
the members of these organizations are potential customers for wildflower
seeds, and I think you'll be surprised at the prices that these seeds
go for. Go online and do some research about the best way to harvest
seeds, and also to browse through some wildflower seed catalogs and have
a look at the staggering prices.

378. When a very popular movie comes out, it's almost impossible
to get tickets on opening night. Two local guys have turned this fact
into a business. When blockbusters like Independence Day, Star Wars Episode
II, Matrix 2, etc. come out, they buy tickets early and then actually
scalp them right at the movie theater for $20 each. When true fans show
up at the theater and are told that all of the showings are sold out,
many of them will happily fork over the extra money to see the film they've
been waiting for... rather than having to go home empty handed. It's
downright conniving, but these guys make about $400 a night when a well-hyped
        movie opens.

379. Almost every state has an agency in charge of unclaimed money,
and it's usually part of the state's treasury department. If you've never
investigated this, it can be quite amazing how much unclaimed money there
is in the world. I looked myself up on a couple of unclaimed money websites
and found that I was owed $65 from a deposit I made with an electric
company 20 years ago. That's a pretty small sum, but there are people
who are literally owed hundreds of thousands of dollars (usually from
abandoned or unknown bank accounts). I propose that you find these people
and tell them that they're owed this money... in exchange for a 1/3 commission.
These states do not actively seek out these people, so some of them will
never know that they're owed money unless you find them and tell them.
And by providing this service, you can reap some pretty significant commissions
yourself. First, design a simple contract and have your lawyer review
it. You want to make sure that you get your cut when you tell the person
about their unknown money. Then, search the records of unclaimed money
(you should be able to get this information in a computer printout -
directly from your state government) and find the people who are owed
the most money. Next, find them. You can use switchboard.com or other
online people-finders. Once you find them, tell them that they're owed
some money, but they have to agree in writing to give you a "finder's
fee" for providing them with the details. If they agree, you get your
cut. If they don't, you just move on. I've heard there are people earning
$5,000 a day using this approach. I can't promise you'll make that kind
of money, but the principle is absolutely sound.

380. We live in security conscious times, and most neighborhoods
would appreciate having a dedicated security patrol. You could approach
homeowners in some of the nicer neighborhoods in your area and ask if
they'd be interested in a personal nightly security patrol for just $19.95
a month. Many people will take you up on your offer, and you will eventually
have 250 homes as part of your patrol network. That's nearly $5,000 a
month and you've got your entire day free. Also, your only real expense
is a few gallons of gasoline.

There is a 60 day guarantee! If you are not completely satisfied all your investment will be returned!
That is just a sample, of course. My collection contains 990 more

Part II

Most people tend to try to set their goals in a hap hazard manner. That is they think that they are setting a goal when they are really dreaming and doing some wishful thinking. I touched upon this in my last article but I am going to review this because it is very important!

Your mind is an amazing thing and once you set it in motion with a serious goal you will achieve it! That being said; you must utilize your whole being in setting your goal; completely immerse yourself in all the steps that you think must be taken to reach your dream. Do not set a goal without completely thinking it through to the end.

If you are not careful you might reach your goal but fail in the end!

I am going to share a short story about another friend of mine and his journey in pursuit of success. His name is Sid and he wanted to be a successful construction contractor.

He told me that he wanted a construction company that targeted government projects. He reasoned that the money was guaranteed even though he would have to do a lot of paperwork. He wanted to have estimators, superintendents and secretaries. He thought by having all the main areas covered that his company should be successful. One part of his dream was to have a million dollars in the bank with a lot or work on the books.

Sounds like a good substantial goal doesn’t it?

It was; as far as he went in his goal setting plan. The problem was; he didn’t consider everything that goes into a successful construction company.

There are systems that must be developed and implemented. A good team needs to be gathered and they all must be sold on the dream. How far does the business go and what are the plans for the company’s long term growth along what exit plans are established?

Within a short time Sid did have his construction company going and it was successful. He assembled his basic team; he had a secretary, an estimator and several superintendents along with a core crew that he could count on to enlarge as needed.

He trained his team and while the company was smaller it was very successful, however, as the company grew he found that he was spending most of his time solving issues that occurred in the field.

After a while it became apparent that Sid had lost sight of the where the company was going. Soon some of his older superintendents left and went to work for other companies and his new superintendents were not as good as his older ones. They failed to get the training that he had given his original crews.

His company continued to grow but he was spending more and more time on the road because the territory of the company had spread across several states. Sid found himself on the road visiting the jobsites three (3) to four (4) days a week. This time should have been used to examine the systems and restructure them as needed.

The money going through his bank account far exceeded the millions of dollars that he had set his sights on but very little was sticking! Most of the money was going to pay everybody else and very little was accumulating. He failed to emphasize that in his original plan and goal.

Everybody thought that Sid was extremely successful but he felt like he had a tiger by the tail. He had to keep hustling because he had no real exit plan!

After a time Sid completely burned himself out. He closed his business and sold his equipment. By the time the dust settled he had very little for himself and his family. During his pursuit of success his wife had divorced him and took the kids.

The last time I saw Sid he left the state and found work somewhere else. I was sad to see him go because he had put his heart and soul into his company. He just failed to complete his plan when establishing his goal.

He did reach his goal! He had a good sized successful company and had all the employees that he had wanted. There were millions of dollars that were going through the bank account. As I said before, very little of the money he made went into profit. He was always one step ahead of the tax man and the bill collectors.

In setting your goals you need to be very thorough and think of all the contingencies. Then as you are on your journey you must constantly be aware of the changes and you must be flexible enough to meet the changes that you will encounter along the way!

Sid was too busy dealing with issues and didn’t have the time to change his course. This is an example of somebody working too hard making a living and not having the time to make his fortune.

Be careful before releasing your mind in pursuit of your goal! Make sure you know what you are going after! I have found that if you take care of the little things; the big ones will take care of themselves!

Dare to dream but when setting your goals make sure that you do a thorough research about where you intend to go along with what you must learn and how you may have to change! Be flexible and be willing to change with the times and circumstances.

Whether we end up being successful or a failure is a choice that each of us must make. Life is a do it yourself adventure, although, you will never hear a failure admit that!

Some people are born into wealth and certainly have an edge over others in their pursuit of success. But being born wealthy does not guarantee that a person will be a success; it only means that they were dealt a better hand and have the means to make themselves successful. The media always has stories of wealthy failures; those people that made poor choices.

The most inspiring stories are those that involve people who have overcame extreme poverty and other obstacles to achieve their success. As ironic as it sounds; most of these people have used their handicaps as their inspiration to improve themselves and their lives. They made a conscious choice; to change their lives and to become successful!

There is a common thread in their stories that most have hit a point in their lives where they decided that they would not accept living as a victim. They made a conscious choice to better themselves!

If you look at it objectively; the only thing in our life that we cannot choose is into what family we are born! The rest of our lives are filled with choices and we can make those that affect the course of our lives.

So how are you handling those choices? Are you pushing yourself to succeed or are you kicking back and accepting what others are giving you? It may be great today but you may not be happy when you hit the finish line!

To succeed you have to set a goal and learn the other components about what it takes to be a success. This all starts with a basic education, unfortunately, most people think that learning ends upon finishing their basic education. This is entirely false! Your real education begins with what you choose to do after the formal education ends

Make a commitment to yourself; never stop learning! The world is filled with more opportunities than you could ever imagine and success is waiting for you!

A wise man once said “if you want to succeed; do the opposite of what the majority of the people are doing with their lives!” Remember that you have the power to choose your destiny! Why not choose the path to success?

Watch this short video with Will Smith and share his thoughts about success!

We all hear about how the government is doing everything possible to get the economy moving and they are to create jobs, however, the question remains about where the money has gone that has already been appropriated to get the economy jump started. It appears that most of the money has gone to repay cronies and the unions.

If you look at the record it appears that the government is doing more things to prohibit recovery rather than encouraging it. Every day congress is cranking out more restrictions that businesses must adhere to if they want to be in compliance with the laws.

Businesses are not hiring because of the uncertainly of the future. Have you noticed that the majority of businesses that are hiring are those that have received waivers from Obama Care? Again, most of these are going to Cronies and the unions!

I am going to identify several areas that make me wonder about why the Obama administration seems to be doing things that are prohibiting the economic recovery.

The Gibson Guitar Company Being Attacked by the DOJ:

The Department of Justice has basically shut down the Gibson Guitar Company in what appears to be an extreme abuse of power.

In August the Department of Justice raided Gibson Guitar facilities in Memphis and Nashville, alleging a violation of the so-called Lacey Act, a law which bans the importation of certain kinds of wildlife, plants and wood. It appears that the DOJ says that Gibson has been using wood that is unlawful to import but according to my research they could use this wood if it was more fully processed.

The DOJ agents recommended that Gibson should relocate to Madagascar. This contradicts what the Administration has been saying in its effort to help small businesses.

Doesn’t everybody condemn manufacturers that are relocating to other countries?

The Persecution of Boeing by The NLRB For Opening a Plant In South Carolina:

It is almost inconceivable that the U.S. government would even think about dictating where a business can locate their manufacturing plant; especially one that plans to hire thousands of people. Yet this is what the Obama Administration and the NLRB are trying to do!

This is something that you would expect to hear about in Russia but not the United States!

The NLRB has done everything possible to deter Boeing from following their original plan. It amazes me that Boeing hasn’t changed their minds and moved the business out of the United States!

The EPA And The Drilling Ban in The Gulf of Mexico:

There have been reports that the Gulf area has lost over 70,000 jobs because of the drilling ban in the Gulf of Mexico.

Even after the courts ruled against the restrictive actions by the EPA; they continued taking restrictive actions to prevent any more drilling in the Gulf. This has caused most of the deep drilling rigs to leave and locate where they can work.

It is my understanding that some approvals for permits are now dribbling out of the EPA but this is too little too late!.

The problem is that most of the deep well drilling rigs have pulled out of the Gulf and it may take five (5) to ten (10) years before they return. This has caused a major blow against the U.S. economy and its recovery!

you can view a short video about this issue here!

Luminant, a Texas Oil Facility announced on the first of September 2011 that they had to close their facility to meet new EPA requirements. They are laying off over 500 people while they install equipment to meet the new requirements.

This short video shows the issue being discussed on the floor of Congress.

If the politicians are serious about economic recovery and creating jobs they need to take immediate action that encourages business people to take action but the present Administration is taking actions that discourage most businesses from moving forward.

Here are five tips that will help you on your journey to success!

1. Do not spend a lot of money at the beginning of your venture.

You can go wild and spend a huge amount of money if you don’t know what you are doing so slow down and find the best vehicle for you to do your marketing. I personally recommend that you start with a Blog!

The blog is the most inexpensive vehicle that is available for a newbie! If you are not techno savvy you can learn the basics very easily. There are many free resources on the web that can offer you many free tips.

2. Do not get caught up in the designing of your blog.

You need to concentrate on your business of marketing so you will want to find the best design for the lowest amount of money. If you are not computer literate you can find an online program that is user friendly!

You can also pay somebody to design your blog but I personally recommend that you save your money.

3. Own your hosting account.

I recommend that you find a blog hosting account that you can own. The free hosting blogs sites such as WordPress.com and Blogger are not owned by you and can cause you problems down the road. These sites tend to not let you monetize your blog site.

4. Remember that you only have one chance to make a first impression.

It is a known fact that you only have about seven (7) seconds to impress your blog visitors. Once somebody lands on your site they may leave quickly if they are not impressed by what they see. This is where your creativity and your site appearance needs to make your visitors want to stay and explore what you have to offer.

You must make their visit enjoyable and memorable so they will want to revisit your site often.

5. Invest in yourself.

Never stop learning about marketing and the internet! Spend your free time researching and reading about ways to make yourself more successful. You alone will determine whether you are successful or not so aim for success and you will achieve it!

The best program that I have found to help get you started in setting up your blog is The Freeblogfactory.com. You can have your blog site set up within two minutes and they offer free tutorials to help guide you on your road to success.

Click here to see everything that is included in this offer:

Part I

The importance of proper planning and goal setting is sometimes done incorrectly and this can cause problems for your long term goals. Once you set your inner mind in motion it is a power to be reckoned with so you need to be very careful in the message you give to your creative inner mind.

It is estimated that we only use a small percentage of our brain’s capabilities. This estimate makes no mention of the workings of the inner mind and the creative capabilities that each of us has. Yet most people fail to utilize it properly. It has the ability to take you to places that you have never imagined and it can help you get riches beyond belief.

I invite you to follow along and meet three people that I have worked with and called friends. Their stories are different although they all worked in the same industry; their journeys are interesting and all are different.

From my observation; the big differences in their stories are the beginning and the planning that was put into place when beginning their business. All three were in the construction industry.

To keep from boring you I have broken their journeys into three different articles that I will be posting..

The first tale involves a guy by the name of JB. JB was a carpenter. He was in his early 30s and had worked in the construction business all his life. Like a lot of young men; he was ambitious and after a while he looked at his employer and the nice truck that he drove and JB began getting restless. JB began to think that it wasn’t fair that he was busting his butt while his boss just drove around to the different projects and lived the good life telling everybody else what to do.

One day, after pondering how unfair life seemed to be; JB decided to quit and go into business for himself. He just knew that if his boss could make it in business JB should be rolling in the clover within a short period of time.

JB did set himself a goal. His goal was to have a Carpentry Construction Business and be the boss. That was as far as he went in setting his goal. All he could think about was being in business for himself and being the boss and having people ask him for direction.

After getting the necessary licensing and other documentation JB was in the carpentry contracting business! He did start fast out of the gate and was able to pick up several smaller projects. He put together a small crew and life was good; JB had attained his goal of being the boss!

It came to pass that JB was soon working over eighteen (18) hours a day. He was working eight (8) to ten (10) hours in the field and then he would go home and work another six (6) to eight (8) hours doing paper work, paying bills estimating new plans and doing the paper work to bid new projects. It was a constant struggle to keep his workers busy.

JB Carpentry continued to grow but JB was not happy! He did not have any time for himself and his family. There was more involved in the construction business than he was initially aware of. After struggling for several years; JB had to admit he was in over his head. He closed his business and moved to another town and went to work for another construction company.

Later when we were visiting he said that he just couldn’t get the right kind of help and insisted if he had enough money he could have made it big. He couldn’t understand that the clarity and planning for his business at the beginning and while it was growing was the problem.

JB did not understand that his inner mind helped him set up his business but then when he achieved his goal of being the boss and having his own construction business; his creative mind went on vacation because it had achieved what JB wanted!

How many small companies have you seen that seemed to be successful and then for no visible reason they went out of business?

There are many reasons that are given for this phenomenon; some of the guesses are:

                *Owner burn-out.

                *Fear of Success.

                *Poor business planning

Few people suspect that the initial planning and
goal setting might be the culprit but I believe this happens more than
most people will ever admit.

In
conclusion I urge you to do some serious thinking and planning before
setting your goal about where you want your creative mind to take you.

This review is from: The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don't Work and What to Do About It (Paperback)

This book is a guide to success for small business owners. Gerber is
the founder of a consulting company for small businesses. In the
beginning of the book, Gerber cites the well-known failure-rate
statistics for small business: 40% fail in 1 year. Of those who survive
1year, 80% fail in 5 years, and of those who survive 5 years, another
80% fail. Over the years, Gerber has observed that the small business
owners who fail often share a number of characteristics, while those who
succeed do so not by luck, brains, or perseverance, but by taking a
different approach. This book explains the approach that is necessary
for a business to survive and thrive.

One of Gerber's most striking observations is that most small
businesses are started by "technicians", that is people who are skilled
at something and who enjoy doing that thing. (A technician can be
anything from a computer programmer to plumber to a dog groomer to a
musician or lawyer.) When these technicians strike out on their own,
they tend to continue doing the work they are skilled at, and ignore the
overarching aspects of business. Without clear goals and
quantification benchmarks, they soon find themselves overworked,
understaffed, and eventually broke. Worst of all, they may come to hate
the work they do. Rather than owning a business, they own a job, and
they find themselves working for managers who are completely clueless
about how to run a business- -themselves.

The solution, Gerber argues, is for every business owner, especially
the technician-owners, to balance their business personalities.
According to Gerber, every business owner needs to simultaneously be an
entrepreneur and a manager as well as a technician. The technician is
the worker-bee, the one who produces the product. The manager makes
sure operations and finances run smoothly and consistently. The
entrepreneur formulates the goals, and steers the business in the
direction needed to reach those goals. Of these three personalities,
the entrepreneur is key- -without it, the technician will work himself
or herself to death or bankruptcy. As the business grows, the business
owner will need to draw away from the technician work and manager work
and delegate this work, rather than abdicate this, to others.

For turning businesses around, or getting them off the right foot,
Gerber suggests looking at franchises as a model. In comparison to the
dismal rate of ordinary small-business start-ups, 75% of franchises
succeed at 5 years. The reason they succeed is that they are set up so
that any unskilled person off the street could walk in, buy a franchise,
run all operations in the franchise, and have a fairly good chance of
success. The product of franchise companies is a business model, not
food, hotel rooms, etc. In order to meet this level of success,
franchise companies have clear operations manuals, procedures,
consistent sales approaches- -every detail of running the business is
specified down to dress codes and wall paper.

By asking us to consider the franchise approach, Gerber is not
saying to go out and buy a franchise license. Instead, he says to
imagine that you want to sell your business as a successful franchise
within a finite period of time. If so, what will you need to do
regarding your business plan and management in order to meet this goal?
That is, if you were going to make your business fool-proof so that any
unskilled person could take over as owner after a few years and succeed
with it, what will you need to do?

Overall, I found the ideas in this book extremely profound and
incredibly useful for my own small-business venture. The writing style
can be a bit wordy and choppy at times, which is the only reason why I
did not give this book full marks. If you're a small business owner
whose business is out of control, stagnant, or worse, or if you're
thinking of going into business yourself, this book can be of
immeasurable value.
_______________________________________________________________________
If you are thinking about going into business; you should read this book while you are setting up your plans and goals. It will help you determine where a lot of people go wrong in their initial planning of how they want their company to look like.

In beginning your business and setting your creative mind you need to be very careful because you might just get what you don't expect.

I hope that you get what you want and want what you get!

Click on the image to order the book!

The first step on your road to success is the most important of all because you need to establish exactly where you are going. You need to define what you consider success to be. Success means different things to different people so you need to set a goal that is your own. It is foolish to pursue a dream that is not yours!

Without a clear definition and thorough understanding about what you consider success to be how will you know when you finally reach the destination that you have set?

The mind is amazing and it is capable of giving you whatever you desire but you have to be careful when putting it into action because if you are not completely clear in your desires you may regret what you wish for.

Vague instructions like “I want to be rich or I want to have a big business” are really too vague! These are more like a wishes and your mind will generally pay little attention to vague wishes.

You need to clarify:

How will you feel when you reach your goal?

What will your days be like; how will you spend your time?

What kind of car will you drive?

What does your house look like?

How is your business functioning day to day?

Is your business self sustainable?

How much money do you have in the bank?

I have known many rich and people that appear to be successful that are really unhappy. The media is always reporting about rich, famous, and successful people that have committed suicide leaving many of us wondering why. What was so bad in their lives that would cause them to end it all?

Most of the time it is because their success was not what they thought it would be like. After all the hard work and sacrifices that they made to obtain their success; their lives were not what they wanted!

This is not success! It is failure to the extreme; which means that their original concept of success was totally different from what they achieved. This is why I say you need to be very clear about what you consider success to be.

The ultimate reward is to get what you want and want what you get!

Only you can decide where you are going and what you expect to have when you reach your destination. Be careful and give a lot of thought in setting your goal!

You can have whatever you set you mind to have!
Nothing is too extreme!
You alone will set your limitations!
Accept nothing less than your heart's desire!

especially when they involve somebody that has risen from rags to riches and having to face insurmountable obstacles. I especially like the stories that show success can still be achieved in the economic climate that we live in today.
The story I am going to share is about a baby boomer, a divorcee with three boys. She started as a real estate agent and has formed a bakery company that she plans to take international. The lady’s name is Cordia Harrington. She is also affectionately known as the “Bun Lady”.

Unlike most of the kids of modern families that are able to eat out quite often; most of the boomer generation was lucky to go out to dinner only on special occasions and we usually went to a small fast food restaurant like McDonalds. Cordia grew up in the boomer generation and remembers going occasionally to McDonalds on those special occasions. Little did she know that one day she would own tree of the franchises as her own.

As a divorcee she began selling real estate and was eventually able to negotiate herself into a franchise position with McDonalds. This accomplishment by itself is quite an achievement because a McDonalds franchise is quite expensive and the qualifications are not easy to meet. She opened her franchise in Effingham, Illinois, which is a town of approximately 10,000 people.

For a fast food restaurant 10,000 people in a town isn’t big enough to grow like a motivated person would want. Cordia did some brainstorming and came up with a creative solution to her small traffic problem.

She wheeled, dealed and did some more creative negotiations to purchase the Grey Hound Bus franchise in Effingham and she selected a bus stop next to her restaurant. This move resulted in eighty eight (88) buses stopping by her restaurant each day. In the summer this number grew to 120 stops every day!

She eventually increased her number of McDonald franchises to three (3). Another example of creative thinking and negations! I should point out that she had to overcome many objections to her growth but she refused to accept “no” as an obstacle to her goal.

During her time with McDonalds Cordia eventually found an opportunity to serve on the McDonald’s purchasing committee for hamburger buns. Her colleagues began calling her the “bun Lady” and the nick name stuck. For a laugh she often straps on a plastic derriere and struts around.

While she was serving on the bun committee it came to pass that the existing supplier was not performing as required. They could not provide the amount of buns needed. Cordia saw an opportunity; she used her sales ability and was able to parlay herself into a position to supply the buns for McDonalds.

Once again, she used her salesman ship, tenacity, moxie and creative thinking to get the backing needed to obtain a loan from her bank for the amount of $13 million dollars to build her new manufacturing plant.

Once the bakery was in operation and successful she soon expanded the operation to three (3) bakeries and now produces over one thousand buns per minute. She now provides all the buns for McDonalds plus Chili’s restaurants, KFC along with Pepperidge Farms.

Cordia Harrington has received numerous awards for her achievements and some may think the road to her success was easy but anybody that knows anything about the McDonald’s franchises knows that it is a very hands on operation. She virtually had to work around the clock to achieve what she has!

She is ready to take risks and says that during a recession is probably the best time to start a new business. She bases this belief in her faith of the United States. She refers to past history and says that the U.S. has had 17 recessions and we have always bounced back.

To prove this point she recently opened her own trucking company to make sure her buns are delivered efficiently. Naturally; the name of the company is “Bun Lady Transport”.

Cordial is grateful for her success and is active in many charities to help others. Her journey is far from being over because she still wants the Tennessee Bun Company to become an international company.

She says she is having too much fun to even think about retiring!

To make a dream come true; They May Take You To The Stars!

When you were a kid, did you ever dream about joining the circus, traveling the world and having all kinds of adventures? Your parents and other people probably laughed and finally talked you back to earth and reality. Yeah; you finally complied with their words of discouragement but you might have kept your dream stashed away in the inner recesses of your mind.

I would like to share a story about a guy that did follow his dream and his dream literally took him to the stars! Well; maybe not to the stars but he did certainly get to go into outer space!

I am talking about Guy Laliberte. He is the co-founder of Cirque du Soleil; the world wide phenonomin that presents circus acts all over the planet. If you don’t know his story you should find it interesting and I hope inspirational. His success is definitely worth sharing and he is a good model to emulate!

He was born in Quebec, Canada on September 2. 1959. Living with his large family; he led a very normal childhood but was bitten by the entertainment bug while still in high school. He participated in school plays and .produced some school functions.

It was during this time that he and his family went to the circus and he was mesmerized. He couldn’t get the dream of traveling the world out of his mind so after graduation at the age of eighteen (18) he joined a group of street performers where he learned to play the accordion and harmonica he also learned to eat fire along with walking on stilts. He would perform his different skills on the streets with a hat in front of him hoping for tips. The tips were meager so with little or no money coming from his shows he spent many nights sleeping on park benches. The experience and lessons learned while on the street were invaluable and would prove useful later in his journey to success.

He met and joined a friend named Giles Ste-Croix to form the Cirque du Soleil (meaning circus of the sun). They gathered other performers; cultivated their talents and traveled throughout Canada. At the beginning they were not that successful so they had to obtain a grant from the government of Canada in order to continue

The pair decided to form their company into a circus like troupe without animals; they wanted something new and unheard of. Most of the big top performers had deteriorated into a shadow of what a circus once was. The old circus relied on clown acts and animal acts and they were pretty much predictable; attendance was down.

Cirque de Soleil was new and refreshing. The performances had only people performing but they were from all over the globe and this mixture made the performances new and refreshing. Many of the acts had never been seen before!

Take a moment and enjoy this short video to give you an idea of what they were able to create!

At first they confined their travel and performances in Canada but in 1987 they decided to risk everything and try to expand so they decided to travel and perform at the Los Angeles Arts Festival. They were booked as an opening act but their performance was so well received that they were able to continue and expand their bookings. Looking back; Laliberte attributes this moment as the turning point to the company and its success.

Guy Laliberte recognized that we live in a global society and he invited the best and most talented acts to join them. The transformation proved to be very successful and during 2004 Guy was able to buy out his partner and he became the sole owner of the troupe.

One of the things that Laliberte does to keep his circus new and exciting is to reinvest 40% of each year’s profit back into the business. This is used to create new and refreshing performances. Lalibrte recognizes the importance of his people so he takes extra steps to show them that they are appreciated. He always encourages them to try new things in their performances; things that they have never tried before.

Keeping fun and excitement in their business is a major goal and everybody feels as though they are part of a great organization that excels in its operation.
